Congratulations are in order to Hatter Institute’s soccer team affectionately known as Mad Hatters, for winning the best dressed team in an annual IDM soccer tournament held on Friday March 11, 2016. The award carried a prize of R500.
Nicholas Woudberg, 2nd year PhD student, in the Cardioprotection Group, Hatter Institute, Department of Medicine, UCT, recently attended the Cardiovascular and Metabolic Research meeting held in Fribourg, Switzerland from the 14th to the 15th of January 2016.
In October 2015, the Deputy Vice Chancellor Francis Peterson , Prof Lionel Opie and multiple researchers from different Institutions in the Western Cape gathered together to celebrate the opening of the new Lionel Opie Preclinical Imaging Core Facility at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Cape Town.
In February 2015, Nick Woudberg, a Masters student at the Hatter Institute had the opportunity to travel to Los Angeles for the purposes of hands on training on the Lipoprint® system (Quantimetrix, Redondo beach, CA).
Dr Gerald Maarman was awarded his PhD in December 2014 for his project entitled Cardioprotection in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH): A novel role of the SAFE pathway in a model of pulmonary arterial hypertension.
