Prof Sliwa, Dr Feriel Azibani (Post-doctoral Research fellow) & Olivia Briton (Project Coordinator) attended the 3rd World Congress on Acute Heart Failure, where Prof Sliwa presented the recently published results of the BAHEF study (European Journal of Heart Failure (2016)doi:10.1002/ejhf.581) in a Late Breaking Trial session as well as a talk on ‘Valvular disease in Pregnancy’ during the ‘Cardiac challenges in Pregnancy’ session.
As joint Chairperson of the European Observational Registry Programme (EORP) Peripartum Cardiomyopathy registry (PPCM), Prof Sliwa & Prof Bauersachs hosted the PPCM Registry meeting attended by all PPCM Registry board members and thereafter the meeting with participating PPCM Investigators, In this session both Dr Azibani & Ms Briton gave talks on the New PPCM Sub-study ‘PPCM Bio-marker study’ an exciting aspect of the PPCM registry where we do research into markers which will hopefully assist to diagnose the condition Peripartum Cardiomyopathy as early as possible.
Dr Feriel Azibani had the opportunity to showcase her research in the Poster session. The title of her research poster was ‘Galectin 3 plasma levels at baseline correlate with poor clinical outcome in patients with peripartum cardiomyopathy’
