Christiaan Diedericks

Christiaan DiedericksChristiaan Diedericks was the lead developer of the previous HEDUAfrica platform. He was responsible for the design and implementation of the IT infrastructure, as well as the platform software development.

Diedericks wrote his first medical software at the age of 12, for his local dentist. He went on to study Electronic Engineering for a brief period before discovering his other passion in life: photography.

He has worked as professional photographer for more than 17 years. His work has featured in both local and international magazines, and advertising campaigns. Diedericks was awarded the 2010 PICA Award for best magazine cover of the year.

His passion for photography and technology came together with the advent of commercial Digital Photography in the mid-90s. Diedericks became highly proficient in digital photography and multimedia. He has presented various workshops and lectures on wide variety of topics related to photography, lighting, design and advanced multimedia software.

For the past 14 years Diedericks has also been studying the progression of the Internet and in tandem exploring various technologies relating to web design and multimedia content management. He has developed various websites and multimedia projects for a number of clients worldwide.

A passionate supporter, user and contributor to free and open-source software. He strongly believes in the collaborative and transformative power of projects like Ubuntu, LibreOffice, Drupal, Mozilla and Google, to name but a few.

The culmination of all these skills led in 2009 to the creation of integerafrica by Dr Friedrich Thienemann and Diedericks.
